Shooting a music video in Vancouver usually means juggling weather, permits, and long resets. This week, a local rock band brought their performance to Upperland Studio in Richmond, BC and turned our LED Volume into a world tour—ocean sunsets, bokeh lights, cosmic skies, and roaring fire—without leaving the stage.
We loved hosting Dave Faber—the band’s frontman and creative lead—whose on-set direction kept performance momentum high as we cycled through tropical, fire, bokeh, and night-sky looks. Want a preview of what’s coming? Follow them on Instagram: @davefabermusic.

Why an LED wall?
- Speed & creative control: Swap environments in seconds and keep the performance energy high.
- Predictable budgets: No travel days or location fees.
- Consistent lighting: The wall throws real, interactive light onto talent and instruments—great for chrome and drum hardware.
- No weather risk: Get the “night sky after rain” look at 10 a.m.
The setup—stage, lighting, and playback
- LED wall + curved side panels for immersive coverage and smooth camera moves.
- Unreal/graphics playback with camera-friendly plates; rock-solid refresh for clean shutter.
- Stage riser for the drummer, black deck for a clean silhouette, and soft key + edge lights shaped for guitars and mic stands.
- Multi-camera capture ready; room for Steadicam/gimbal paths and crew.
Looks we captured—fast
- Tropical aerials for bright summer choruses
- Snow-glow particle field for ballad moments
- Flame motif for the heavy mid-section
- Milky Way night sky for the final lift
All four worlds were shot in a single session with minimal relights.
Workflow & benefits for music video teams
- Preload plates and LUTs → step on set and roll.
- Real reflections on cymbals and glossy finishes—less post needed.
- Performance first: Artists stay in flow; AD gets more usable takes.
- Same-day selects: Producers leave with confident coverage and thumbnails for the edit.
